Making Old Cars New Through Restoration

I bought my Volvo a few months ago. It was cheap, and my old car was dead, so I was happy to have it. It had seat warmers, a first for me, and seemed to run well. But, as with most older cars, you have to expect some problems.Little did I know I was buying a restoration project that would last months, and in fact, still continues to this day. I have replaced so many parts in my car, when you look at the guts under the hood, it looks almost new. The first thing that blew was the water pump. Luckly for me the guy who I bought it from was a mechanic and replaced it for me free of charge (since it went out a week after I bought it).A week later the oxygen censor went out. A commen thing, and an easy fix. I went ahead and replaced the spark plugs and wires, and the air filter, which to my surprise crumbled in my hands. Lucky for me it hadn’t caused any problems and I replaced it before it could, but the thing looked old, and flameable. Two days after that I wake up for work to find my car won’t start. I jump it and get to work, but I notice on the trip that it feels like the transmission is slipping. After work it wouldn’t start again, and this time it took me 30 minutes to find someone to jump it. It barely made it home, and I towed it back to the guy I bought it from (who will remain nameless through this article for the protection of his reputation). He replaced the altinator and battery. A new lube job on the transmission and the slipping stopped. For a month, I was in the clear. Then one day while driving down south to see the parents (only about a hour drive, but it seemed like a hell of an adventure this trip) my car lost power on the highway. It didn’t stall and die, it just seemed like it was running through mud.I was able to pull another good week out of the beast, but today, it completely died, beyond the ability to start. So I wait for a call hoping it isn’t serious. My only hope is that soon, after all is said in done, my restoration will be complete, and I will have my new car.
